Lisa Romano: Digital strategist

Lisa Romano is an award-winning digital product expert and strategist with a peerless history in leading digital transformation initiatives and driving successful product launches for a number of high-profile brands. This experience has made her an excellent addition to the team at M | Academy, where she leads all digital strategy projects. She also currently juggles her time at General Assembly where she coaches teams of up to 20 students across all facets of the product life cycle.

Lisa's extensive career also encompassed significant roles in media, serving at News Corp Australia as Head of Product Strategy and Development, where she led projects that propelled the company to reach over 14 million users across 20 brands. She crafted the product strategy and roadmap for large-scale projects, including a video platform rebuild, a native advertising network, a global podcast network, and various AI experiments. She was also integral to the success of news.com.au, making it the number-one news site in Australia. Her achievements included revamping the mobile site, creating audio news services on Google Home and Alexa, a news chatbot, and engaging content partnerships.

Prior to that, Lisa was part of ABC’s strategic development team, playing a pivotal role in several successful projects such as the launch of ABC iView and the creation of AIMIA award-winning Roco iTV, the first interactive TV app. Her work included writing CMS requirements, conducting user research, planning content and workflows, negotiating streaming contracts and budgets, and presenting to ABC management. She was also involved in innovative projects like ABC’s 'Second Life Island' and a 3D mapping interactive of Gallipoli.

Before the ABC, Lisa worked for Foxtel, where she up the digital presence for The LifeStyle Channel from scratch, including a custom CMS and CRM platform, managing P&L, and overseeing digital marketing campaigns.

Lisa also worked as a Senior Product Manager and Consultant at Circle In, where she developed strategies for a highly successful HR tech startup catering to enterprise clients like Atlassian, Estee Lauder, and Coca-Cola.

Lisa has a strong history that spans across government sectors too. At Destination NSW, she managed and executed digital projects that reshaped tourism experiences in Sydney. She led innovative projects like the Sydney 360 travel experience and the redevelopment of 17 international sites.
